Waiting for the subway in perspective

Once a copywriter told me that she didn't like to fill boxes. I was working off a design that a friend of mine had created and noted that the areas that had been designed only allowed space for a certain number of words. I think I communicated the needs of the design badly, and she was reacting to that more than the requirements of the site. We later became friends and smoothed over our earlier differences.

I'm thinking of that now because I've designed this site to require text at the base of each photograph. It forces me to think and write about the photographs I'm posting—which I like—but it also forces me to think and write about the photographs I'm posting. What I write won't always relate directly to the photographs, but I'd like the photographs at least to be a jumping off point. I have another space for random text stories and thoughts.

Some friends have asked if I'd be interested in exhibiting at some point. It is an interest of mine, but I haven't really come up with themes or statements or concepts to explore, let alone a portfolio of prints to show. Maybe I'm just lazy. Maybe by writing about the photographs on this site, I'll be able to discover and articulate themes.

But then again, I'm writing this because I didn't know what to write about the photo above.
