Alms at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

A few weeks ago I went to recently renovated Greek and Roman galleries. They're glorious, but more on that later. I took a few photos that I'll be posting as I find time to scan them.

It was a hot day, and I hadn't had lunch. I bought a sandwich from Le Pain Quotidien and sat on a small bench to enjoy my repast. In front of me, artist sold their paintings on the sidewalk. A man next to me smoked a cigar; I moved to another bench. The Met provided a cool shade.

I bought a bottle of water from a cart in front of the Met. As soon as I turned around, I saw another cart advertising cheaper water. I sat on the steps and finished my meal. En route to the cart, I passed this man, standing by the dry fountain. I paused and took this picture.
