New York by way of Richard Serra

A few weeks ago, en route to an evening at the City Center, I crossed Sixth Avenue in the 50s. Large flatbed trucks were parked along the road, each loaded with large, curved steel plates. I recognized them instantly as pieces from the Richard Serra exhibition that had just ended at MoMA. Yw had told me of seeing them the weekend before; I hadn't realized realized the trucks had not departed yet.

I took this photo, using one of Serra's pieces to frame the base of the skyscraper. It speaks of the city, where anything can seem to coincide with anything else at any moment. Or something like that. A photofriday submission.
