City sights NY ticket agent, NYC

Fortunately, I'm not often accosted by people selling tickets to bus tours. I'm not sure why. I'm not sure how they determine who to ask and who not to ask, but I stood on this corner for 15 minutes and no one offered me a tour. That's not true in other countries in this world, but in New York it seems to hold true.

Many years ago I went on a Big Apple bus tour. An uncle was in town and wanted to go and so we all hopped on a big red bus and climbed to the top. I remember thinking how cool it was that we could get so close to the stoplights. The ticket was good for two days, and I meant to spend the entirety of the next day atop one of the buses, but it wasn't to be. I can't remember what I did instead of riding the bus (hop on, hop off) all day, but it wasn't as memorable as a day on the bus would have been.

Part of me thinks that it might be fun to go on another bus tour, but then another part of me thinks that you can get almost the same experience riding the MTA buses. True, you don't get to look up above, which is part of the fun, and you don't get to almost touch the stoplights, but you can still see the life that goes on the streets. And all in air-conditioned comfort without someone screaming trivia into your ear. But if I wanted that I'm sure I could find a podcast of some sort.
