Bus stop Queens, NYC
A month or two ago I met Alan in Queens to eat lunch at Sripraphai, perhaps the best Thai restaurant in the city. He long had been wanting to go; for a time I was going two or three times a month.
I found myself arriving early and took some photos around the neighborhood. I then bought a New York Times and found a stoop upon which to sit and read.
This photo was taken just off the subway. In Woodside, the 7 train is elevated, which casts the shadows on the building and creates the square patterns of light on the street below. I believe the buiding is the side of a church.
The bus shelter to the left of the frame is one of the new structures designed by Grimshaw Architects that are going up around the city. They all have bench seating and illuminated signs. Unfortunately they don't tell you when the next bus is arriving.
And lunch? It was delicious. But then, it always is.
