No smoking sign, Tokyo, Japan

While walking from my hotel to the train station every morning I would pass this sign. I finally had to take a photo.

I was staying in an inexpensive Japanese hotel near the Kyobashi subway stop. It was a simple square room the size of three tatami mats. The bathroom and showers were down the hall. It was much like other places I had stayed in Osaka and other cities, and they all tend to run into each other.

The walk to the Tokyo train station each morning was not long, and it was nice to spend a few moments in the relatively quiet area before jumping into the train station. On nights walking back, I would stop by a 7-11 and buy a red bean bun to accompany me home.

I actually don't remember seeing anyone smoking and walking. But I may not have been paying attention.

More photos from Japan can be found here: Late autumn, early winter.

It's considered rude to smoke while walking on public streets. (More so outside of Tokyo, I think.) Same thing for eating/drinking.
