Manhattan from Long Island City, NYC

I took this photo one or two weekends before July 4. I had just visited PS1 to see the Eliasson exhibit with a friend and we walked to the river after waiting out a storm. The evening cleared for the most part, though storm clouds clung to the horizon. We sat and watched an Indian family assemble for photos, the children horsing around as the adults tried to make them behave. They were beautifully dressed.

A few couples came and went, some walking their dogs. A few dogs chased each other, and one woman almost lost hers as the dog pulled away to play with another. Fortunately, both dogs returned, and she quickkly grabbed the leash.

As storm clouds once again threatened, everyone left the docks. We walked to a nearby Italian restaurant and had a delicious meal, before heading underground on our separate ways home.
