Inauguration Day, 2/5
After the inauguration, Chrysanthe set out cupcakes. She had made them the night before, and decorated them with with Obama's name and the date. To fill out the block, she decorated two cupcakes with Obama's campaign logo. They were delicious.
The rest of the day was business as usual. Congress went back to work and so did we. Pizza was delivered to the office and we ate lunch before digging into the cupcakes. By the end of the day they were gone. Crumbs and a stray muffin cup littered the tray.
Outside, it was cold. A co-worker had gone to Washington to stand on the mall. His sister had managed to obtain tickets from her congressman in Utah. Later, he would tell us that while he was close to the stage, he was off to the side; his view was blocked by trees. He told us it was especially cold because they were standing on marble. The cold rose from his feet up through his coat. He said it was a day of waiting. He said it was amazing.
