Central Park wedding, NYC
This past weekend I drove to Fishkill to attend Sonjia and Eric's wedding. The week leading up to the wedding had been awash with rain, but the day of the wedding was clear and mild; in effect, it was perfect.
The wedding was held by a small pond called Willow Lake. Canoes were tied to a small pier; swimming was not allowed during the festivities. They said their vows on a sloping lawn in front of a small manor; cocktails and dinner were served on the far side of the lake.
The ceremony was brief. Friends played music as guests settled, and after their vows were exchanged we all sang "Two of us" during the recessional. Later, some friends performed a song on ukleleles written for the couple detailing their courtship.
Dinner was served family-style on long rectangular tables set in a rustic style. Avocados brought from the groom's family's adorned each place setting. Succulents the centerpieces.
The above photo is unrelated to this past weekend, save that it documents a wedding party. I ran across this group in Central Park on another glorious weekend. Unfortunately, the days upcoming look to be clouded with rain. I had hoped to travel to the Catskills or to the Finger Lakes region to go canoeing in fresh water for my birthday.
