Wedding preparations, Fishkill, NY
The first week of August I have three weddings to attend: one in New York, one in Rhode Island, and one in Connecticut. Two of them fall on the same weekend, on successive days. It's going to be exhausting.
I thought I was done with weddings; I had thought all my friends were married and well on their way towards a second child. Obviously, I was wrong. That said, I was still surprised at the number of weddings to which I was invited this summer. Some, I had to decline.
This photo was taken while my friend D and I were preparing to attend the wedding of our friends Sonjia and Eric. They had their wedding in Fishkill, by a small pond on the fields of an estate. It had rained the days leading up to the wedding, but on the day of their nuptials the sun shone. The weather was beautiful; the setting idyllic.
And speaking of photographs and their wedding, I need to get myself into the darkroom to see about perhaps printing up some wedding presents. I hope I can find some decent shots and make some good prints.

interesting slice of life.
thanks amit. it's interesting looking at this image knowing the context. out of context it seems like it could say so many other different things . . .
How classic is this? Only film can render it quite this way. Beautiful. Moving. I'll be back.
thanks brian! and yes, i tend to agree that film has a certain je ne sais quois. :-)
i'm enjoying your beautiful photographs--and now remembering that *we* attended the wedding of a mutual friend years and years ago--anna's! they're still happily going strong, made for each other.
kirsten! welcome! it's so great to hear from you. i, too, remember that wedding. or rather i remember elements of it and the setting; i don't remember if we danced. i remember a live band but was there crazy dancing? for some reason, that, i cannot remember.
you are on candid!!
