Bubbles, Soho, NY

There seem to be a plethora of bubble-blowing denizens as of late. Last night in Washington Square Park, a man drew crowds blowing large soap bubbles using pieces of string strung between two sticks. Children waited (not so) patiently for the bubbles to form so they could pop them. Often, as the man drew large bubbles out of the air, they would pop the bubbles before they could fully form. A few bubbles escaped, and we watched them as they floated above the fountain, to disappear behind the trees. One older gentleman raised his grandchildren up into the air so that they could pop the bubbles along with the other children.

The bubbles in the background of this photo appeared on the corner of Spring and Broadway. There, a man (or two) often blow bubbles from a soap bubble gun. They sell them on the sidewalk, and spend the afternoon blowing the bubbles that drift down Broadway. Here, there are few children popping them. Instead, pedestrians rush past the bubble clouds, on their way to and fro.
