Night photographer, NYC
I feel we've been granted a reprieve. The past few days have been relatively cool and dry. I've been out of the city, but have heard reports. In Connecticut, the days could not have been any more perfect, and my friend's wedding proved to be one of the most beautiful I have attended. Tomorrow, however, the forecast calls for 90 degrees and humid.
This photo was taken earlier in the season on a seasonably warm summer night. I was hanging out in front of the Apple store with a friend, watching tourists and locals alike saunter down Fifth Avenue. This particular photographer was with a group of photographers, all shooting their friends as subjects. They shot photographs in front of the Apple cube, on the stairs leading up to the plaza, in front of the fountains that flank the entrance to the store. The photographers proved as interesting as their subjects as they went to great lengths to set up their shots. In the end, I couldn't help but take this photo of one of them.
The summer is beginning to wind down for me. In less than two weeks I'll be heading to Beijing. I'll be in China for about seven weeks, my trip broken in two by a wedding I'll be attending back in Beijing. I didn't think I'd be returning to the country so soon (I was there last year on the tail end of a trans-Siberian/Mongolian train trip I took from Moscow), but events have conspired to bring me back there. I can't complain.
