Subway car, Shanghai
Public transportation is one of my favorite things to explore when I'm travelling. The other day I had tea with a friend who's husband asked her to take a cab from the airport to the hotel when she was visiting Frankfurt. She took the train. We both feel that it's one of the better ways to begin to learn a city, and she told me that the train went practically to her hotel's doorstep. In Incheon, I bought a ticket to take a bus into the center of town. I ended up not using it, as I ran out of time in the country (I had hoped to see a friend in Seoul for coffee before heading back to New York). Last week I had dinner with some former co-workers and mentioned that I had hoped to see the new statue of King Sejong that had been unveiled. I told a friend I had bought a ticket to go into the city and she asked to see it. She told me that if I had taken the bus I would have disembarked practically right in front of it. She was surprised I knew who King Sejong was, and I confessed that I had read an article about him on the occasion of the statue's unveiling while on the airplane.

Belle composition et beau noir et blanc !
I like train photos too. In such a public place everyone seems lost in their own private world.
theys: merci boucoup! et merci pour votre visite!
focuss: i agree. there's something amazing about watching people while they're between places.
Wow what a great shot with a lot of details! Great atmosphere and well composed!
this is an awesome shot! when i visit shanghai, i like to ride the subway more than taking the cab as well. nice treatment in mono!
Thanks Laurens + Liang. One of the things I like to do when I come back from travelling is to take the subway back into the city as well. It's great to immerse myself back into the city.
Great photo! There is something eye-catching about the women in the ad on the side of the subway and the man waiting.
