Window dolls, Bronx

This past summer, while visiting the Bronx zoo, I came across a house with dolls in the window. They stood there, staring at the passersby, in various windows. I couldn't help but take a photo. Of those that I took, this seemed to be more mysterious, with the tree covering the faces of the dolls in question.

New York has become cold in the past day. This evening a friend from California complained about the sudden shift in seasons; he wondered where the fall had gone. I didn't return to New York until late October this year so assumed that I had missed it due to my absence. He said he never felt it.

Halloween this year was surprisingly warm, although it rained. I remember freezing while waiting for the parade in years past, and also it being unseasonably warm. I wonder what the weather patterns over Halloween mean for the winter. I hope this winter is not as bad as the last. That said, I bought a down jacket during the Thanksgiving break.

This past weekend was a study in contrasts, one day clear and cold, the other overcast and warm. It rained all day Sunday. Neither day proved to be a day to spend walking around outside, and I spent the majority of each indoors. This upcoming weekend they're predicting a chance of snow.

Great shot and it reminds me of a funeral or some sober feeling.

thanks ken. i definitely see what you mean. it's interesting how objects that are usually considered toys can take on such somber tones.
