Spring street snowfall, NYC
There's an 80% chance of snow today in New York. This past weekend felt like spring, though it's been getting colder as the week has gone on. I thought I could put away my down jacket, but today I took it off the hook and put it back on.
This photo was taken about a month ago, the day of the last large storm in New York. In the morning, the snowflakes were huge. As I walked to the subway I caught them on my tongue. It was the most pleasurable snowfall of the season. By the time I got to work, the snow had turned to rain, but as noon approached, the snow returned, to continue throughout the day. A friend went sledding and sent me photos. She sent me photos of snowmen in Central Park. She tried to convince me to play hooky.
There's something kind of nice about a spring snow, the last snow before the weather begins to look towards the summer. Or maybe it's because the words remind me of the Mishima novel. At any rate, the next few days look confused weatherwise as the seasons struggle to change. Before we know it, we'll be sweltering.

I agree - although when we moved south last year from NH, we thought the lingering odd snow was a thing of the past. Not so, apparently!
delicate atmophere, great depth
