Lunar new year, Chinatown NYC

I spent lunar new year's eve in Connecticut with my parents. New year's day I took the train back to New York. I arrived in the afternoon and, hungry for dumplings, found myself in Chinatown. New year's celebrations were still going on. The streets were littered with confetti and discarded confetti poppers. People crowded around lions dancing in the street. Restauranteurs and shop keepers showered gifts upon them. The restaurants were packed.

I made my way to the edges, and walked to Excellent Dumpling house, where I nestled into a spot at a communal table. I ordered dumplings and moments later they were before me. I dipped them in soy sauce and ate and wished good fortune to those around me.
