Volcano National Park, Hawaii
I've been experiencing all sorts of technical difficulties of my own creation and just lost this post. Unfortunately I didn't have the presence of mind to store the text somewhere while I was futzing with MT, and so I'll have to re-write it. Or not.
It's become much colder in New York, and so I've been thinking of a warmer time. To wit, Hawaii. I've just finished editing a set of photos for the bride and have posted them for her and her family. I'm trying to figure out how to deliver the rest. She had asked me to shoot her wedding and I came home with over 900 images. It was great reliving the event, and wonderful to see the couple and their familes so happy in the photographs.
A couple of weeks ago, I attended another wedding in the finger lakes region. I had never been and was grateful for the opportunity. The wedding was held in a small chapel, which was accessed by way of a path through the woods from the Fontainbleu Inn. The ceremony was beautiful. Afterwards, children ran on the expansive lawn that stretched from the inn to the Cayuta Lake. It was an idyllic scene; one I could imagine Jay Gatsby admiring from afar.
The above expanse was formed by a volcano. It's actually what remains of a lava lake that had formed in the crater of the volcano. A path leads down to it, and the white line moving from the lower left to the upper right is a path across it. In the distance, smoke rises from the Kilauea Caldera.
