Chelsea, NYC
It's raining in New York and I'm listening to Alicia Keys. "Empire State of Mind" just came on and I'm thinking about how next week I will be leaving the city to wander the streets of Zagreb and points unknown in Croatia. I'll be back on the 24th, just in time for Thanksgiving. It's a funny thing, to be nostalgic for a city you're still in. That said, the New York I live in now isn't the same New York I moved to. Nor is it the same New York as even a year or two ago. Last week I was talking with a coworker about when we first moved to the city and where. We compared notes on various neighborhoods and places we used to go. It surprises me the number of places that still remain. And there are those that I thought would be around forever that have gone. Or moved.
A friend of mine just sent me a photo she took from the NYTimes building. Her office has commanding views of the surroundings and in her photo, the Empire State building is disappearing into the clouds. I've always wanted to be on top of the building looking down on a sea of clouds, only the tallest spires peeking through.
The above photo was taken in a sublevel gallery in Chelsea. I had gone to see a photography exhibit; afterwards I wandered some of the neighboring galleries and stopped into this one to see the beautifully wrought ceramics. As I looked out towards the street, I caught these passersby.

Nice grab shot. The grain and movement make it
Lloyd Wood / Devix
i like the grainy-ness
It's just abstract enough to be intriguing - I like it a lot!
What a unique shot! Not something you see on every blog. I love the grainy look. Keep up the great work!
@ricky That's why I'll never stop shooting film. :-)
@Journey Photoraphic thanks! I wasn't sure I got this shot in the camera. I was pleasantly surprised by the results!
